My path to becoming a midwife began, as it does for many women, with the birth
of my own children. It was through my own experiences that I first discovered my
deep passion for personalised, holistic care.
When my son was born at Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital, I received shared
GP/midwifery care, but there were no private midwifery options available in
Kalgoorlie at the time. Not long after, my friend birthed her baby at home in
Perth under the attentive care of a private midwife. Watching the nurturing and
tailored care she received after her birth was a revelation—what do you mean I
can have my 'own' midwife? I knew this was the care I wanted for myself.
When my daughter was born, I had the opportunity to experience private
midwifery care firsthand. I engaged 'my own' midwife who provided me with
domino care, meaning she provided pregnancy and postnatal care in the
community, and attended my birth at the Family Birth Centre. Having someone
walk this journey with me who truly understood me, who knew my needs and
desires, made such a difference. I felt supported, cared for, and empowered
throughout the entire experience.
Wanting to provide personalised support to other families, I decided to become a
doula. For ten years, I worked closely with families, offering emotional and
practical support through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period - both in
hospital and at home. During this time, I deepened my understanding of birth,
informed choice, and the importance of personalised care. I was an active
member of the doula community and went on to become a doula trainer, passing
on my knowledge and passion to others.
But I wasn’t finished yet. After a decade of supporting women, I felt the calling to
take my knowledge and experience to the next level. I returned to university to
train as a midwife, wanting to combine my passion for emotional and practical
support with professional healthcare expertise. Since then, I have worked in the
public hospital system and in Midwifery Group Practice where I have had the privilege of providing continuity of care to women and families.
This journey has led me to create a space where I can offer midwifery care in the community in a way that truly aligns with my values. I am committed to providing the time, attention, and care you deserve while ensuring that you and your baby receive safe, comprehensive care with all necessary referral pathways in place. Being an endorsed midwife means that I am also able to provide you with referrals for blood tests and ultrasounds.
It would be my honour to walk alongside you during this transformative time in
your life, offering the personalised care and support you need to feel confident
and empowered throughout your pregnancy, birth, and beyond. Please note that
my services involve pregnancy and postnatal care, I am not currently providing
birth services.
